I’m Dakota Owens, a designer from Gulfport, Mississippi. I’m set to graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Southern Mississippi in May 2025.

I was homeschooled for most of my life, which gave me the flexibility to explore a wide range of academic interests and creative pursuits. I’ve always been driven to create, starting with an early fascination for engineering and computer science. While I appreciated the structure and challenge of those fields, I eventually discovered that graphic design allowed me to fully combine technical skill with artistic creativity. Design gives me the opportunity to solve problems visually and approach each project as a meaningful challenge.

Much of my inspiration comes from vintage Americana, textured materials, and classic, hands-on craftsmanship. I enjoy blending traditional influences with modern techniques to create work that feels both timeless and fresh. Throughout my portfolio, you’ll find a variety of styles and approaches, reflecting the ways I’ve pushed myself to grow as a designer, a storyteller, and a creative thinker.
